The Ballantyne Hotel

This hotel is known for being luxurious and offering guests an amazing spa as well as a PGA golf course. I have always thought of it as a place for adults to escape. However, little did I know it is actually family-friendly!

Check-In

We live in the area and had to leave our home for a couple days as repairs were being done. We decided to make it a staycation and check out the Ballantyne. We had to leave our house early, so we arrived at the hotel hours before our scheduled check-in time. However, the front desk was more than accommodating and provided us a room and even an upgrade to a balcony room. They also gave the boys coloring books and crayons which was a thoughtful touch.

Accomodations

The room was great! We had a nice size flat screen TV which made my husband happy.

The bathroom had double-sinks, a large shower, and bathtub which is always nice with kids!

For the Balcony, we picked the city view….which was actually more of a parking lot view. So if you get the option choose a golf course view! However, it was still nice to have that extra space.

They had very soft and cozy robes available, which my husband had no problem taking advantage of immediately….

Amenities

Note: Some of these are closed due to the pandemic but most importantly the spa and pools were all open!

  • Complimentary bike rentals
  • Tennis
  • Golf
  • Lawn Games
  • Fitness Center
  • The Spa!!!!
  • Indoor pool
  • Outdoor pool

Pools

The pools are amazing. We spent all day between the indoor and outdoor pools. The outdoor pool was a great size and there were rarely any other people near us. All the furniture was spaced far apart for social distancing. Due to the low numbers it was never an issue. I was a big fan that they had plenty of clean towels available at each pool.

In order to go to the indoor pool, you had to be escorted by hotel staff since there were restricted numbers allowed. The indoor area as a big indoor pool, a hot tub and two endless pools! The kids favorite by far were the endless pools. They spent hours in them. It was great entertainment for us and wore them out!

Food

Unfortunately I don’t have much to offer in regards to feedback on the food. We didn’t venture to the hotel restaurants. Instead we ordered room service and made it a true vacation! They did offer a kids menu which was a plus. While the kids got a kick out of this and it was super convenient it does come at a cost. The strawberry ice cream was AMAZING! Be aware that it is not cheap. If you are looking to save money there were a lot of restaurants extremely close that were just across the freeway.

Conclusion

This place was awesome! I loved that we rarely saw another person, the staff was amazing, and the pools made the boys extremely happy. The rooms were fantastic. I always love a big clean bathroom! Now is a great time to go while crowds are low. Whether you are from out of town or in the Charlotte area, it is some place everyone should try at least once.
