Bahamas-Atlantis

The Atlantis!

Everyone is familiar with the popular Nassau destination of Atlantis. It is HUGE so bring your walking shoes. It is also a very popular stop for many cruise ships. We stayed here in early December 2016. They have a water park, marine habitat, casino, golf, and more.

Rooms

We stayed in the older portion of the resort. Our room was in need of some upgrading. Our bathroom in particular was rough to say the least. The worst for my husband was that our air conditioning did not work consistently. However, the location was nice and quiet. We did have a balcony which the kids loved as they could see some of the marine life down below.

Beach

The beach looked beautiful. Unfortunately while we were there the waters were a bit too rough for the youngsters. We attempted a swim and they got knocked around pretty good. We stuck to the pools after that which were plentiful.

Pools

Atlantis really excels in this area. They have so many options for pools that there is something for everyone. On top of that is the water park! Even though our kids were too young for a lot of the rides there was still plenty to keep them busy. There were some smaller water slides, a lazy river, and a water-play fort. The kids thought it was pretty cool to watch their parents do the Leap of Faith slide which goes through a tunnel with sharks. Also, there is Dolphin Cay if you are interested in swimming with the dolphins.

Food

As expected, the food is expensive. This is not an all-inclusive resort however they do offer some meal plans. Once again, I am a sucker for breakfast buffets. We ate at Poseidon’s every morning and it was delicious with a good variety. We snacked around during the day and tried a different place each night for dinner.

Summary

I almost forgot to mention they do have an indoor Aquarium that is great to walk-around called The Dig. That is something fun to do especially if it is a rainy day. I was surprised being marketed as such a family-friendly resort how difficult it was to get around with a stroller. There were many times we ran into stairs and had to carry the stroller up or down the stairs. It is a large property and a lot of walking for little ones. All in all, I think I would return again in the off-season if I found a deal on some of the more updated rooms.
